I would like some advice on how to polish the chrome on my 409 dual quad, which I am installing in a hot rod. In particular, I'd like to hear about people's experience with products which will not discolor the chrome once it gets hot!
Thanks,

What parts are you concerned about discoloring?

I am worried about the timing cover, custom brackets, A/C compressor, alternator, idler, pulleys, etc. Basically the entire front of the engine is now chrome, and I want to keep it looking good, but don't want to use products on it which will eventually discolor the chrome with the normal heat generated under the hood.
Thanks,

Chrome polish is always the best and will not discolor at any temp. I use that and spray clear silicone on hard to reach spots and around bolt and washer joints and wipe with a rag to displace moisture. Chrome itself is a smokey gray clear coat on top of buffed nickel plate. If you keep oxidation from getting to the base metal it will last a long time.
