Hello everybody. . You guys are real knowledgeable concerning W engines. I myself have a QB 409 in a 64 Impala SS conv. Also a 64SS Hardtop with a 1970 LT-1 Corvette engine. I hope to be talking to all of you. Skip

I see in another post that you raced a 64 Impala convertible in the 60's. Is that the same car you've got now?

Yes, I still have the same car. Its not in the same condition now as it was in those days. The 409 is in my cellar being rebuilt. The car needs a couple of floor pans. and a new comv. top. My wife has been after me to sell it. How could I sell my best girl friend. My 64 hardtop is almost finished. It only needs the interior done over. You know how women are. She knows I spent alot restoring this one. She doesn't even want to hear me bring up the subject of the convertible. They just don't understand what runs through our blood, and makes us tick

It's funny that you described yourself as the rookie.:D I see now that term only applies to your newness to this site. Not many people still own the same car they had in the 60's. Way to go!:clap :beerbang

Skip, Women, women, women............ Tell your wife that finishing the convertible is not what you want to do, but you are going to do it for her. You have pictured how good she will look riding in a ragtop and you are gonna work your tail off just for her. Tell her if she really loves you she will shop aroung for a higher paying job so she can help with the expenses. Afterall , the project is for her happiness, not yours.:beerbang

That was the greatest script of reverse psychology I've ever heard. Unfortunately it would never work. After 38 years, she's seen it all, heard it all, and watched her dreams get rubbed out by a long regime of noxious carb. cleaners, engine degreasers, paints, sand blasters, welders, compressors, cherry pickers, unusable engine blocks laying around, car parts under the bed, grease on the rugs, hand prints on the towels, gojo blobs on the sink, Oh, I could go on for hours. Hopefully this summer or next, I will get working on the conv. What's she gonna do, sit me in the corner? :dunno
