Can you tell what it is? No not the head. Been working on it about 2 weeks. Just thought I would share a picture.

Flow bench it is. Always wanted one.:D I still have to cut out an adjustable orifice plate, make monometers, and get the blowers. I started out wanting 1000 cfm. My money has dwindled a bit and I think I will have to settle for 400 cfm.

Blast cabnet..... that is in the future. I just can't decide how big to make it:scratch

Where did you get the vacume motors? I have been thinking about building one also. I have some rather large vane style vacume pumps out of printing equipment but I dont know how to figure the CFM of them.

This is the motor I plan to use. Started with 10, now I may be down to 4.

I am not a fluid engineer but I can limp along.:dunno I will try to make it as simple as I can. ( I hope):doh
As for figuring flow of an unknown fan or blower. You have to have a flow bench... sorta. The fan has to be in a stucture, say a tube, with an inlet and outlet. Measure the pressure, in and out, at spacific points in the tube. Go here and use this

to calculate cfs then convert to cfm. You can then use this formula to find free flow cfm.


vol flow act = vol flow std x 14.7 psia/(Actual Abs Atmo Prs + gage prs) x (Temp + 460deg)/520 deg


To much:scratch :bang I have to do some looking. I'm not sure this works. It's been 12 years sence I have done this.

The easy way is to do a flow bench
