I am hoping to get us guys around the Portland area together sometime.
Seems there are more of us now a days and think it would be a blast as a group gathering.

All these midwest and east coasters are making us look bad.

Winter is a boring time for me and I`m sure you`re getting tired of this 30+ days of rain !!:cuss

So lets start here and work on a picking a night or day when we can gather for some food and beverages and the BSing !!

could even start a regular schedule gathering.

If we start now it could cary over into the summer !! ,,dq

I would be real cool to get everybody together just to get to know each other and get out of this rain.:cheers

Portland is only a few hundred from me and even if I can't drive I can fly there in an hour. Round trip flight 99.00 drive 200+ octane booster with the 4:11's or I could put the 3:08 back in and fly via the highway:-) I wonder if I can still break the spedo... hmmmmm :-)

What are the dates?

dq409
01-26-2006, 06:25 PM
Cool ! I think what i will do is just add each person to the list as they reply to this thread then when we have a few more I`ll contact everyone and see when a date will work.
I`d like to get together before the good weather at least once then add some dates for the summer.
Maybe at Woodburn for a race event. We can do a mini- Clay City with a dinner or such after !
There are three or four of us that meet at Woodburn whenever posible.
Hey Tic, have you and Nut gotten together? Maybe you two could caravan or ride together? ,, dq

Good deal !! We will look forward to meeting you !!!
Yes several of us will be running ! It will be your choice to run or not.
This way it will be fun for everyone regardless if they race or not.
Once we see who all is coming we can make more plans for the gathering.
There are four or five of us that usually are there racing.,,

Hey all you Western 409'ers, the time is growing near when we all should meet. The Oldies But Goodies race at Woodburn dragstrip, Woodburn, Oregon is June 24th and 25th with the gates opening on Friday the 23rd for us campers. I would sure like to see alot of the Western members of this site present for this event. It's a great event even if you just come to watch the festivities. There are quite a few non 409 Impalas and Belairs that race plus at least 3 409's (DQ, Steve Gregory, and myself) that will be keeping the legend alive. Heck, they even have a sock hop on Saturday night under the timing tower.

If you need directions or lodging information you can contact myself or DQ or just go to woodburndragstrip.com for all the information.

I hope to see as many of you as possible.

What time do the Saturday events start and how late do they run? I will be in Gleneden Beach that weekend, about 80 miles away. I may be able to make it up there midday or late afternoon.

Gates open at 8AM, racing starts between 8:30 and 9AM. They have practice runs until noon then they have a cash bash in the afternoon. They usually end on Saturday between 5 and 6PM, depending on the number of cars in the fields.

I hope you can make it.

Guys,

The Woodburn Dragstrip is a great facility. There is lots of room in the pit area for RVs and support vehicles. The track staff seems to have it all together and run a good program.

It was great to hook up with fellow W-heads. I just wish more of the western members had made it. There were race cars from CA, WA, ID, UT, and AZ so I know it can't be that far for our members.

Once again I have found Oregon resdients to be friendly folks that love to tell you about the history of their towns and direct you to the best places to eat.

Headed home to NM tomorrow, but we'll come back again for another visit.
