Am posting a picture of a picture of a picture. A newspaper article advertising a drag race held at Caddo Mills,Tx. I believe in Oct 1964. Because of the poor quality of photo, I will print some info from the article. Pictured from left to right----Buddy Taylor, Tom McCroan, Ray Trevathan and Dan Dean. The world record for the standing 1/4 mi. is a fantastic 239 mph in only 6.83 sec. by Don Rose piloting a jet powered dragster. Rose set the Texas Land Speed record at Smithfield (Green Valley drag strip) when he clocked 226.70 mph in the same car. McCroan is one of more than a dozen Garland drag afficianados and will enter his Superstock 1964 Fairlane at Caddo Mills. With his 427 cu in Ford, McCroan is currently the 2nd fastest stock eliminator in the nation. Expected to make the Caddo trip from Garland will be Dan Dean in the Weaver Hall 327 -64 Chevelle. Buddy Taylors 427-1963 Chev. , Mike Browns B-fuel dragster and Ray Trevathan in his 1964-426 Plymouth. This Sunday , the stockers will run four abreast. Again, I appologize for poor quality. Will try to find better pictures. Tried to post and failed. I will re-size and post shortly. Afraid it will be too small to see much.
