This ones for you. Any of you that do some shipping got any ideas and ways to ship a 1000# engine 900 miles and a cost or a set of W heads 2000 miles.
Any thing I ever ship is UPS able.

FedX shipped my small block from business to business in a crate Chicago to Athens Georgia for $380. Picked it up at the dock and delivered it to the dock in GA.

I have sent 409 heads by Fedex before , not as fussy as the big brown truck!!

The motor can be sent by almost any trucking co.Sent a short block a while back on a skid , banded on , to K.C. i think the charges were less than $2oo.oo. You will probably have to take it trucking co. dock as models said.

i used Jevic Transportation to get my 409 from NC. i had to go pick it up at the terminal, and it was around $250.

ABF.com has decent dock to dock rates you, with terminals in most large cities. You can print it all up from home and just drop it off. Use the discount tab on the rate page. Strap or bolt it to a hardwood skid and wrap in black plastic seems to get my stuff all over the country cheap.

Truck freight is the cheapest. East Cost to West coast for 700# engine straped to a pallet is about $350. West to East is about $150 more.... Check with a local trucking firm near you. If you can drop it off, it will save $75 PICK UP FEE. If the addresee doesn't have a dock or a fork lift, add $100 for a truck with a drop gate.

Insurance is a problem. PUC allows only a max coverage of $5 a pound. If it is a very expensive engine, you will have some exposure.

Thanks guys best deal I found for 870 miles from north central Illinois to Dallas was 453 figuring about 1000# for complete 454 being able to start and run exhaust alternaotr p/s etc.
