T56 6 speed

Has anyone installed a 5 or 6 speed Tremec trans?

I'm looking at a swap bolt in kit from www.keislerauto.com however they said I'd be on my own for the pedal assembly. I'm looking at their prices and shy of $4000 seems a little steap for a t56, belhousing, clutch assembly and drive shaft. I can ebay a t56 for $2K...

Has anyone done this swap out on the X frame? Can you share some photos of the trans crossmember and specs please. Will the stock Z bar work with this set up?

Any help and knowledge on this would be great

I installed a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed in my 62 Impala. I had to cut the floor. I think the T-56 is even larger.:dunno The new tranny works great except for the offset shifter. If it wasn't for wanting to use the stock 62 shifter consol I'd just use the regular shifter. With the offset shifter there's not enough spring tension and the shift locations are harder to feel. For example if you're trying to shift fast from second to 3rd it's easy to go to 5th by mistake. That's about the only complaint I've got.
