It's a global thing. The days of all U.S. made items are gone. Suzuki makes the Tracker that used to be a Geo is now a Chevy. Holden makes the Pontiac GTO. One of the many Malibus is a Saab. Toyota debuted their NEXTEL CUP car for 2007. Jaguar has a Ford engine. Ford SHO had a Yamaha cylinder head. Corvette ZR1 32 valve was designed by Lotus and made by Mercury Marine. The list goes on. I look at the product quality now, not the country of origin. Most import products look like Crap, but there are exceptions.

about the closest thing you can find in an american made car today would be a honda civic or accord. 90% of their parts are made right here in ohio. who would have thought that 40 years ago. makes you wonder why other car companies have to go outside of the usa to make their cars.

And they wonder why we have a trade deficit. We don't manufacture anything anymore.

Several years ago, a friend came over to borrow a metric wrench. I told him, " I dont have any metric tools, and aint gonna have, cause I aint buying no foreign car, ever! Well, I have never owned a foreign car, but I sure had to eat those words about owning metric tools.

if i had a nickel for every time i had to go back to the tool box to get the right wrench, i would be a rich man. in the old days you could see the differance in a 1/2" 9/16" 5/8" wrench clear across te shop. with metric, they all look the same and always will as my eye site is not getting any better.

What if the Brits had won the war? Might have metric Wentworth or whatever that size is the Nortons and BSAs use. When I was a kid I had a Norton Commando and I had no idea they used a different system. Lots of greef at Sears looking for tools.

im a ASE master tech by trade, and im am so die hard GM , it aint funny. but i must say the lack of quality on any american car nowadays sucks. I wanted to buy a new truck, but what i see come through the shop makes me think other wise.
for instance, i have a 95 yukon, 154K, orig rotors. I see 04 trucks( GM, Ford, and Dodge), 25K, rotors rotted, pads junk, front ends falling out, etc. no front end probs for my yukon( maby cause its in every 2500 for a service)
im actually going back to all old GM stuff. the new stuff dont interest me, and niether do the excise tax, sales tax, or cost of ins here in mass.
my 2 cents

We as American do this to ourselves. We will buy anything that is cheaper. Our government is completely ambiguous by refusing to allow any contact with communist Cuba and turning our entire manufacturing base over to communist China.:cuss At least when we import things from Europe or Canada we know that those workers have some protection. Also there are some inspection as to quality of the parts. We can buy for quality at all times and therefore weed out the inferior crap that comes from China or we can continue the downward spiral of our economy. As for your cables you got from Chevrolet I would write a letter to the head office complaining about it. They listen to letters. We can stop this but it takes an effort.:nono1: Roy

The worst part about the standard verses metric wars is that the american cars are a mix of both!! :bang
Either do it or don`t !!!! :cuss :cuss
