For the header to block gaskets, I use the metal foil type manifold gaskets. A little RTV on both sides, and they are nearly indestructable!

I used the Hooker gaskets , made in mexico but appear to be good quality, part # 10860. Was able to order through my local speed shop.

Show Cars has the regular white gaskets that are made from a material that resembles asbestos. I think they're made by Hooker. They're not as tough as the factory gaskets. But I found that with my 690 heads the ports were too small on the factory gaskets. My heads are ported a bit though, maybe they would fit stock 690's just fine.:dunno I tried to enlarge the factory gaskets but it didn't work very well so I ended up using the header gaskets from Show Cars instead.

The ones I was referring to would be the silver metal type you get in a gasket set. They are alot stronger than the white ones you get with headers. In fact, I have yet to blow one of these out! The white ones get crumbly after a while from the heat.

I have GOOD header gaskets if you want some. Or call Phil Reed in KC. 816-587-1109. He sells them, too. They are Byson gaskets. They hold up well.
