WTF? OK maybe they're CND but still $200?
Also aren't these truck covers with the center looms?

Bungy, Just another example of e-bay craziness. In the description the guy doesnt say it is passenger car, but that is what he is implying. Seems like a lot of unknowledgable buyers willing to pay crazy prices, if it is a part for a 409. Guess we need to dig out all of those old 348 valve covers and clean em up.

the ad states 58-64 Impala,,,it also says "They were removed from a 1964 8k mile survivor 409 and it shows"..........that's not implying...thats lying...I don't see bowties on these...

I wouldn't say he's lying. He doesn't say they came off of a chevy. I believe they came off of a Canadian 409. Did the Canadian passenger 409s use the center mounted wire looms?

These must be super rare Canadian truck 409 valve covers!
Hey, Oz.......what's your verdict? Were there such valve covers?

I suspect these are 348 or 409 Canadian truck covers or
62 380 hp passenger car...:dunno
Weren't all 64 passenger car covers chrome........63 as well.....:scratch
They still look good but the price is a bit high.......as I bought a set of 62 409hp
drippers last year for US$140. in Columbus.........:deal

Everybody's getting mad????:dunno
How come ?:dunno ! !
That's right... ALL Canadian 348 / 409 valve covers, car or truck, chrome or painted... had no bow-tie.
These probably ARE EXACTLY what the guy says.... low mileage 1964 409 valve covers... from a Canadian truck ( Chevrolet or GMC ).
To my knowledge, all of the 1959-1965 348/409 Canadian truck valve covers will be like these.
Yes, even a Canadian Chevrolet W engine has no bow-tie.
I actually prefer them:deal
I don't need no bow-tie to know it's a Chevrolet ! :p

If you have a problem with someones listing please be courteous enough to talk directly to them. People are enlightened daily, sometimes to their surprise. Thanks for your support Bungy and CDNpontiac409guy, instead of the usual piling on. As a matter of fact you two are bang on with your descriptions. Talk to ya later. :)

Congratulation 409deuce, I still have no idea why your covers brought that kind of money, but its none of my business anyway. Take the money and go visit old Mickey and have a blast. Good luck:) :)

Thanks Ron,
I was hoping to get the $75 it costs to get some repop chrome jobs. I couldn't afford the $250 to get the ebay ones chromed so it worked out good. I sell stuff on ebay fairly regularly and some times it get goofy. On the other hand sometimes I won't get a sniff at a usable quality part? See ya later.:)

409deuce.... I bought a set of those "Canadian style" chrome valve covers.
Not too bad... BUT....
They're not correct. I posted a message about these a while ago.
Problem is the height. They are approximately 1/2 shorter than the originals... the top surface where the 409 Turbofire ecal would go. is parrallel with the gasket surface.... rather than tilting upwards on the "intake" side.
If all you wanted to do was get the money to buy the chrome new chrome ones....
oh well
what's done is done
The concolation is that you got a good $100 more than they were worth:deal :beerbang

Hi Aub,
This is the only time I havn't been sweating the "correct" details. I'm usually doing the restoration thing. The differences you mentioned with the valve covers will be o.k. in this instance. Thanks for the info though. Building a hot rod this time around so the cheap chromies will be o.k.. Tri power with some lakester headers. Thanks again!:D
