We finished painting the 55 today.:beerbang There are a few flaws but nothing that can't be buffed out, I hope. It's looking like we're going to have it ready to run in time for the Clay City get together.

Is that a Bohannon front end? I think that's his name. He got the old Harwood molds and improved them.

Oohh, now I'm in the mood to paint something! Thanks alot Jim. :D

Nice job and nice color. Love those body/paint pics, they get me fired up. :p

Are you sure you don't have the Overhaulin' team helping you? :scratch Wasn't it just 3 weeks ago you bought that 55? (just kidding) I'll say one thing, you sure don't mess around when you work on a car.

Jim, Great choice of color and amazing work schedule. Looks super! How do you get all this work done so efficiently in so short of a time frame???? You keep this up and you will have a TV show someday. :rofl

Mike, When we got the car it had a factory steel hood and fiberglass fenders. We bonded them together and built a scoop out of fiberglass. We also removed the raised crease that runs down the centre of the hood for a cleaner look.
Those are pretty good name suggestions, I'll add them to the list.:deal We don't really have to name the car but I'd like to.

Jim. Bob Walker Jr. nailed it. I dont think there could possibly be a better name for your car. Just my opinion.:)

Bob,when I was naming the Camaro,I thought of Blew By You.I thought it sounded sarcastic and fellow racers might not like it,so I was going to go with Blue Bayou.Racers might think it was a song or a vacation spot in Louisiana :dunno I named the Camaro True Blue.BTW hows the race car coming, will you be ready for Clay City?

DQ, Funny you mention "FLIES down the road" On of the names we were thinking of was TIME MACHINE. Then I thought a guy could put "TIME FLIES" on the trunk. I know you're a Seahawks fan so I thought it might interest you to know how we decided on a color. We were thinking about a blueish grey and about the time the Superbowl was on. I got looking at the Seahawks colors and decided THAT'S IT! The color we ended up with was a little more blue but we're basically using that color scheme, blue-grey body, blue-black frame, silver front axle and exhaust, and silver lettering outlined in dark blue for the name.

Purelife, The paint is relatively cheap line called Omni. It's a base-clear urethane I think. It seemed fairly easy to paint with and more importantly it didn't take too long to color sand the dust spots out of it. We did that today. I don't know much about paint but I think it'll be fine on this car because it'll spend most of it's time in a garage or in a trailer.

Jim, The last 3 cars I have painted were single stage Omni jobs. Cant afford base coat-clear coat. I did paint a 62 I owned a few years ago ( Corona Cream) base coat-clear coat and no doubt that was my best job. But the Omni finishes out great with wet sanding and buffing. Im looking forward to seeing your car with the gray on it . At the rate you are going, You probably already have it finished. Good luck.......

Old song from the past was "Crystal Blue Persuasion". Would make a good car name.

The car is really taking shape in short time, certainly looks like you will make the Clay City get together. In the 60s a friend of mine had a 66 Chevelle 396 375 that he called "The Pied Piper" like the song says I'm the Pied Piper, follow me.

I always liked that one.
