This is as Old School as it gets. Fool Proof heater shut-off from the old days. Look familiar to any of you old geezers? Oh, wait, that would be me (old geezer that is). Looks Canadian doesn't it?

Would have to be running while it is in flames to put it out. Wonder why Chevy never thought of it.

Used to and still sometimes do see those kind of shut off valves on big trucks, usually to shut the coolant off to the heater core for summer driving, or turn off coolant to water filter, so filter can be replaced without loosing much coolant.
