I asked the seller for a picture of the cowl tag or the details on the tag and he blew me off! Told me not to waste his time... Something fishy!!:scratch

BIG $$$ spent on that restoration and it still doesn't have the right master cylinder! Kind of a stand out item under the hood.

Not having an original car, I'm wondering. Is it correct to have the screws showing on the bottom of the door panels or were there just clips? Check the photo.

Models:

My '62 car was from Van Nuys (CA) and it did have the three (or was it 4?) screws in the bottoms of both front door panels. I put 'em back that way, but mine is a driver, not a $85K car :).

I showed that auction site to my wife last night and guess what she said? ("Sell yours when you get it done"!). I told her ours was not comparable in terms of "collectibility". The only thing we have in common is clean titles :). Wait 'til she gets a ride in it and she has to change her panties :) :) :). Then she'll REALLY want me to sell it !!! (No way!).

Cheers,
TomK

If this car was so meticulously restored, why would anybody paint the underside of the trunk ORANGE.:dunno I'm missing something here. $80,000 plus. It must be a Hemi-orange thing.....:rofl Skip

That is the correct finish for an original restored car.
The underside of the floors and trunk pan were red oxide from the factory.
A lot of the chevrolets were that way for quite a few years.
Not sure about all of them but many were this way.

Hard to get the right red oxide primer color...many are too orangy...

At $90,000.00. Reserve met. More money than I would put in it.

To droptop62: The floor pans and trunk on my 64 conv. were undercoated when I bought it. The inside floor pans were painted red oxide. Actually, all the interior metal was painted that way.:)

Red oxcide is what was used during assembly inside and out on the underside. You can buy a pretty good match from Classic Industies. Red primer doesn't match. The orange bottom trunk pan on that $90K clone doesn't even come close. Actually, it was ugly....

If I remember right the primer on the underside of my 62 convertible wasn't exactly what I'd call a red oxide color. I think it was closer to a redish-carmel looking color. I think they painted that car Hemi Orange underneath to add to the value.:deal:rofl To be fair though, sometimes colors don't came out quite right in a digital picture.
