low rise Offenhuser

I posted this on another thread, but here goes again. Vendor and the parts swap on Sunday had Offenhauser 2x4 intakes for low performance 348-409. Low rise was much more expensive than hi rise version. Reson: he claimed the low version was out of production. Anybody heard this before? Time to sell your stash on Ebay. Hood clearance is a problem with the hi version I guess.

Is there a way to tell which is which (low rise or high rise) with out having them side by side?

Hi rise measures 4" from the carb mounting base to the inside floor of the manifold. Probably 2" less for the low.
