On dual quad 63 409 425 hp engine, what is the cfm on the factory carter AFB. I am currently running two carter performance 600 cfm manual choke carbs with a z-11 cam. It runs great ! Sometimes after reaching operating temprature and driven for a while, I have a hard time starting it. Has anyone else had this problem? Paul:dunno

Paul, We have discussed this before and there are several opinions. Most will say your fuel is perculating on a hot intake manifold. And , indeed that may be. There are insulating spacers and thick gaskets available that would help that symptom. I have read explainations by a oil company chemist , that explained the problem is because of different vapor pressures and vapor densities of todays fuel as compared to the old days. So, I guess you should try the insulators and if that doesnt work,, learn to live with it. You are not alone.:)
