Well I just joined and I guess I should tell you guys a little about myself.

I am 16, live in Chattanooga, TN, and I am a junior in high school. And I recently bought a 1960 el camino that I am trying to turn into a badass hotrod, complete with 409. The bad thing is I am pretty much broke after buying the car :doh

Heres the 60, she's going to be one fine machine when I get done with her

Here's my other car (the one that runs) a 1978 caballero

I like both of your cars.:beerbang If you're on a budget (who isn't) you might consider a 348. With a good cam a 348 will make lots of power and they look just like a 409.:deal

Nice find, hard to get those cars in that shape. Jim's point is quite valid. A 409 rebuilt is going to be costly for a young man on a budget. Something to consider as you progress further with your new project. As you go forward remember to document everything you do.Easy with a digital camera. Pictures taken today as you disassemble this beauty will be a valuable asset one or two years down the road. It's amazing how much you can forget in a short period on time. Keep us updated on your progress. Lots of great guys on here with years of experience that can help you as you go along. Welcome aboard...........:)

Welcome Mullet,
60 El Cams are tough to find!! Consider yourself very lucky!! My Dad and I searched for a good 60 'Camino for quite a while and never found one. He had to settle on a 68:D
I was just like you when I was 16, except it was a 63 Impala 2dr ht. Owning that car changed my life!! I think you'll find everyone here very supportive and helpful.
