I built this oil primer today as it was too cold to work on the car. I bought a SBC primer for $15.95 at a swap last week. Removed the spool that directs the oil to the lifter galley and replaced it with different size washers. 4 washers at 1.365 then 4 washers at 1.25 followed by 4 washers at 1.365 and a cotter pin because I kept making size changes to the large washers dia. I bought them at 1.375 and ground them down on a belt sander til they fit the opening for the distributor. Opening in block seems a bit tapered. I tested it out with a 1/2 inch drill and had oil to all the pushrods within 3 minutes. So if you are on a budget check it out.

Nothing to do this winter? I'll relist this thread. Sold a lot of these on ebay for lots of money and cost very little to make.

The washers from Ace hardware work without grinding to size. Stacked washers work better than a solid piece because of what appears to be a shift in some of the vertical sleeve the distributor slides into. The washers just slip around a little as you drop in into position and contact the oil pump drive.

I should have read that thread before I butchered a 1110927 distributor:eek:
I do still have the Delco Remy wrap tag.
I ground the gears teeth off smooth and removed al upper guts to hook up a 1/2" drill. It works fine but I think that I could have gotten more than $60 for the distributor an bought the tool........:cuss
