:( My Chevy truck (1989 1500 4.3) has a 5 speed transmission that is stuck in 2nd gear. I was wandering if anyone might know how I might fix it.
Thanks Alot

Chevy Girl-
Well.. Here's the most likely reason why:
You've got a bent shift-fork. I've repaired a Muncie M-22 on an old Corvette my Father had with a bent fork. If you drop the pan on the case, you'll see "Fingers" that guide the gears into the appropriate places in the tranny. One should be visibly bent or kinked.
If you bend it back to roughly the correct shape, it will bend again, but the parts are farily easy to change with basic mechanical knowledge, and should be readily available at your friendly neighborhood GM dealer or junkyard. Just examine it well if it's used; they can be a pain....
It could also be a synchro, or bad linkage adjustment, or a million and one other things, but I'm assuming the tranny worked OK before getting stuck in second.....
Does it/has it popped out of gear, or "missed" shifts, or any other weird things?

No. It's never popped out before. We've only had the truck a couple of months, though. It shifted great when we first got it. Then one day my brother was driving it to work and it wouldn't shift out of second. I'll tell him about the bent fork. We took the shifter knob off. But he hasn't completely dropped the tranny yet.
Thanks a lot, and if you have anymore tips, please drop me a line.
