Welcome to the site. Great group of guys here:clap .nice to see another "different" street rod. I am currently building a '31 F**d 5 window with a truck block, lo hp heads, 3x2 setup. highboy style with no fenders:cheers
best regards from another Canadian street rodder

Our engines are going to be pretty close, truck block with some pistons to get the compression up to about 8 1/2-9, little bit of a cam, bowl cleanup & a little porting on the 333's, roller rockers, and three rochesters........ small blocks are wonderful but the '38 needed something different.

Welcome aboard!:cheers I like the small block Chevy too, but you just can't beat the looks of a street rod with a 348 or 409!:beerbang

Welcome aboard!
Looks like a rash of 30's era rods are going to get 348's and 409's upcoming!
My next project is hopefully a 409/stroker/450 2x4 going into a 31 Chevy 5-window Coupe. I say "hopefully" because the fitment under a stock "looking" sidehood panel is going to be a fabrication challenge.
But, if it fits.. ZOOMMMMMM!!!!

Well I think we've all been in love with the w's for a long time and lets face it, there's nothing that looks better or sounds better. Some of those silly mopar guys might think the hemi looks as good, but I don't think any mopar guy really knows much....... (huge laugh)

Greetings: I have a freind who has 2 hemi cars ( a Cuda & Roadrunner) . I tell him they look cool and are so powerful and fast is because they are painted orange (as in chev orange!!!).:D
Even he admits that a 348/409 W motor is cool in a street rod. By the way my '64 SS 409/425 HP is almost as fast as is hemi cuda in the quarter mile !!:clap Don't know about the roadrunner as it (like my hot rod) is a work in progress.
On day I'll post some pictures if I can figure it out.:bang

Hey Desapience, don't forget those '40's cars too! I'm dropping my 348 in a '42 Hudson coupe. Good luck on that '31 Chevy project and let me know if you figure it out. I'm currently driving a '31 Pontiac five-window rod with a SB. My next project after the Hudson is a '31 Pontiac cabriolet/convertible. The Pontiac is the same width at the cowl but 6 inches longer in the hood length than the '31 Chevy. And, I have measured and remeasured to see how to fit a 348. Not saying it can't be done but we're gonna need a ACME motor shrinker I think:rofl
