Awhile back I asked for weight estimates for my 1961. Canadian was closest. He said 3,900 the landfill scale was 4120 with about 8 gallons of gas and me not in it. Now to the real problem. with 3500# axles the payload is advertized at 4,400. Too close??? This is with a 22 foot Wells trailer. Thoughts????
I have enjoyed the Clay pictures. I think my heavy 348 would have been royally embarassed so it's good that I didn't go

I can't remember whether this is a trailer you already own or one you're thinking about buying.:scratch If it were me and I already owned the trailer,,, I'd go ahead and use it. I've got a deal on a 20' Pace trailer with light axles and when I weighed it, it was within 100lbs of it's maximum weight. (carrying a 62 Impala convertible) I always make sure the tires are fully inflated and stay under 65mph.

By the way, we could have used a 348 or two at Clay City. All we had was 409's. A lot of guys come out to race but some don't run up the track at all and others just want to make one or two runs just for the fun of it.:D I'm sure we'll put something together next year it'd be great if you could make it.:cheers

What Jim said!!

If you are getting a good deal on a trailer like that get it. You can always upgrade the axles later.
Trailer axles are fairly reasonable and easy to install.

NEVER,,, I say NEVER be embarrassed to take you car anywhere no matter what shape you think it is in or how fast it is or isn`t !!!:takethat

Us car guys will never look down on another car !!!

Speed on the track is cool but not the whole picture.
Just being able to run your car down the track is one of the fun things that these events are about!!!

I`ve seen cars at all the races I`ve been to that are way slow but a pleasure to watch because of the fun the owners are having driving them !!!

We all can`t have perfect cars and mine is FAR from being perfect and needs paint and interior work but I love taking it anywhere, anytime and always get comments about it.

Shoot,,, it`s an old car but a classic!!!

The idea is to enjoy the car you have and have fun with it.
THAT IS the whole reason we have our cars!!!:D dq

I didn't buy it because it was close to advertised weight stuff. I know that they are a little conservative. I am going to keep looking for 6 lugs because I might want to fill it up with gas one day. Heh, Heh:D

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to bring it down and "profile" next year. Did that this past weekend and got too cold. Top down of course
