I stoped by Day Automotive this morning and spent a couple of hours talking with Tony Shaffer about a 409 build. It has taken me about a year and half to gather up heads, block, crank, intake and some tin so that I can build a 409 for my 63' Impala. We had a great visit and I probally have another year or so of parts to get lined up before I take it all for the final build. Can't get here soon enough.
Just so happened that Tony is working with Diamond Pistons to develope a new 348-409 piston!!! Got to drool over the first set of prototypes!!! Very nice pieces with a design that is much different that I have seen in the past. Some LUCKY guy already has a short block on order that will recieve the first set. From the sounds of it 348-409 bores will be covered, stock to plus length rod length, as well as street to race compression ratio. They are still working out all the final details at this point.
Its hard not to be fired up about building a 09 after spending a couple of hours with Tony.
