817 heads & Exhaust manifolds

On an earlier thread I had mentioned that I recently bought a rebuilt 1963 409. This engine does not have exhaust manifolds. The only thing I have available to me at short notice...since I'd like to have the engine installed shortly, is the cast iron manifolds from the 348 engine, that is being taken out of the 1962 Impala. These are centre dump and NOT 2½ outlet.

Q#1. The big question right now is.....will these small 348 manifolds match up to the 817's? so I can get this engine swap completed?

Q#2. Will there be a noticable "negative" impact to performance if these manifolds can be installed?

Ron, The manifolds will work. Why not use them until something better comes along. Sure, they will cut horsepower, but at least you can move the project along right now. Good luck
