There have been several posts in the past concerning favorite car movies, and the usual players always come to mind...2 lane blacktop, American Graffitti etal....but one I have not seen mentioned and my Absolute favorite is simply titled "HOTROD"...it was a late 70's made for TV movie so it comes with some extra cheese...but it was sure a treat to dust off and watch the other night. I remember I must have looked for the thing for over 15 years to find a copy,,pretty rare since it was never in theatres.

It says it's region free so it should work. :dunno

Not exactly considered a car movie but I'm watching Thunder road on TCM right now. Lots of good old iron in this one. The cops are driving '57 Chevy's.

Man, those steering wheels back then were HUGE! :rofl

Wow, thanks for the link Jim, never knew it was available on DVD...my VHS copy leaves alot to be desired. Hopefully this is decent quality and not poorly pirated.

Hmmm... not exactly sure what it is but I do know that some only play in certain countries. When a DVD has region 1 on it, it is for U.S. and Canada. Then there are other numbers for other places.

Maybe someone else knows more about this than I.

I saw the movie "Hotrod" for the first time this weekend. Not much plot and the acting could be better but there's a lot of cool cars. Well worth seeing!:beerbang One of the guys I race with was inspired to get the car car pictured below after seeing that movie. It's a steel bodied Willys and he just dropped in a new all aluminum hemi this year. It runs mid nines and does really nice looking wheelstands. We try to line up together during time trials because we think it looks better seeing two old cars run.
By the way, the movie features a grey primered Willys.

Yes Bob, You are correct !! They have several formats for DVD`s and the different ones are in Europe.

My new roomy lived in germany and has several programs for converting DVD`s to use in the DVD`s sold in the USA.

You can`t view different formats in different machines,,,, buyer beware,,dq

Actually there are 3 video formats in use in the world today. NTSC (used in U. S.), Pal (used in Europe and most of the rest of the world) and SECAM (used who knows where). These formats have nothing to do with the Region Codes which are on each DVD. The Region Codes are used to prevent DVDs which are released in the U.S. from being sent to other parts of the world and used there and vice versa. Movies which are released on DVDs are not released all around the world on DVD at the same time. For example a movie may be available on DVD in the U. S. and has not even been released in theaters in other parts of the world. The DVD PLAYERS are Region coded for the country in which they are sold to prevent the playing of a DVD from another region. Region 0 DVDs can be played in all DVD players around the world. Some mail order houses sell DVD players which are Region Free. This allows the playing of all DVDs no matter what Region they are coded for. Some players are also multi-format, which allows they to play both NTSC and Pal DVDs. I doubt if anyone really cares much about how these things work, but if you do, I THINK the above is sort of how it works and why.
