This weekend I happened to meet some guys at the parts store who were working on a 348. They were trying to get some exhaust manifold gaskets and the parts store clerk was waaaay out matched with that request. "A three fourty WHAT????" Luckily I recognized the one in their hand and ask if they had a 348. I then informed them that they don't need any gaskets...........Long story short thier 348 was in a 58 Impala 2dr ht that had been sitting for many, many, years. It was a tri power with a 4-speed!!! A rock-solid california car, white with blue interior. I ended up spending the majority of the weekend helping set lifters, timing, tuning, etc. I think that the project was a little more than they could handle but I helped out and we got it going!! They pulled out of the driveway just about an hour ago for a little cruise!
It turned out they were friends of a guy I knew and they live just a short distance from me. It felt pretty good to help them out and to see that white 58 roll down the street. Thats what the 348-409 brotherhood is all about!!!
