1/4 speed cams?

hi all ! was looking thru some 1960,s magazines and saw an add for the SCHALLER 1/4 speed dual lobe cam.Later saw an article for a american v-8 indy car effort that was using this. Does anyone remember these? what happened to this idea?seems like a very interesting idea.please reply if you have any info
