8 3/4 rear

I have the chance to purchase a 8 3/4 rear for an A body Mopar. I't 61" axle to axle. From what I hear they are almost as strong as a F**d 9' but about 400 lbs lighter. I'm considering this as a replacement for the stock posi in the 64.
Has anyone ever played with this idea before? Your thoughts and comments are welcome..

8 3/4 mopar rear ends are quite strong, just depends on the case you get i believe the desirable cases are 489`s or 741`s. 9" is the way to go if you want totally bulletproof

I know that 9" is the proven winner, but the weight makes a difference. The cost is nothing compaired to the F**d . I sure would like to speak with someone that has made the switch.
