Has anyone noticed that BP Oil Co. announced that a major Alaska oil pipe line is being shut down due to corrosion? 400,000 barrels a day. 8 percent of U.S. oil production. Better fill up the tank tomorrow. :doh :doh

Yes, the Prudhoe Bay facility is shut down and spot prices for crude went to a new record. The good news is that contracts have been awarded to build new refining capacity here in the US, the downside is that it will be about 3 years to bring it on line.

The other bad news is BP (Arco) supplies all the diesel (heating oil) to the NW.

Prices are sky rocketing !!!

With prices this high no one is ordering ,,,,If the truck is not on the road no money is coming in,,,:cry

This is the time of year people fill their tanks,,, the good customers and orders,,,dq

I just talked to my supplier and the news is that the whole pipeline was shut down over the weekend but is now back on line with only part of the line still down.

Wholesale price up a dime today,,, up 15 cents from last week !!!

This puts heating oil around $3.00 a gal !!!!!:bang

Did you notice the time on the first post of this thread?? Is it not odd that BP announced this Sunday? Can you imagine how many millions, if not billions of dollars were made by European and 'Asian crude oil speculators? American investors were asleep or watching coverage of the war. Our cable news and network news were caught asleep. This was such major news, that I stayed awake till 2 am , waiting for the news to hit, it never did , until this morning. I just saw one " oil expert" say that this will only cost the consumer 3 to 5 cents a gallon at the gas pump. Yea, right. It went up 5 cents here this morning. Oh well, nothing we can do about it except to keep bending over. :bang

We're actually paying the same price for gas per avg income as we did in 1965. Rememeber when the cost to fill your tank was the same as a night at the movies and a burger afterwards? Thinak about it/

Ronnie,

$3.19 a gal. for 87 octane here in Michigan. $3.39 for premium. At current prices, the next 4 car shows (last 4 dad and I are going to attend) will run us almost $250.00 in fuel alone. It sure takes the fun out of it, and taking the old girl out for a cruise is just about out of the question.

We have just had an increase yesterday here on the Eastern Shore $2.85 for 87 and $3.05 for premium. I must add we have a very high tax BUT here we don't use that reformulated stuff
