Not 409 related, but I got a new set of gauges for my GMC Suburban. It has a 400 small block and I believe a TH400 trans. When I got it it had the original mechanical speedo and cable. The new speedo comes with a sending unit that takes the place of the cable at the transmission.

I have everything hooked up and working, but all the instructions give me are a table of settings for different pulses per mile. I have no idea what the transmission is putting out, nor do I know how to find out. Is this dictated by the transmission or the sender? I would assume one revolution of the sender would equal one "pulse", but who knows? Is there a way to tell what the sender is sending out, or do I just have to go through all the settings of the switches on the back of the speedo? (There are 10 switches, but I think the instructions only list about 20 or so combinations. If I had to go through every combination of switches I think there ends up being a thousand or so...)

It's kind of a pain to set it to a setting, button it up, drive it enough to tell that it is wrong, then start the process over again. I get no response so far from the company that makes the gauges.

Anybody gone through this already?:dunno
