it is so far off ... that I ran out of gas with the gauge showing 1/4 tank. Now that I filled the tank, it goes from full to any reading at will.
After searching the threads. I picked up that on a 62 409 it should be a 3/8" line, but can't find out if it needs a return line.
Now assuming it is the sending unit, is there a way to check the dash gauge? And if I purchase a sending unit, how can you tell it's the proper one? There a a few out there to be purchased.

Very unlikely that the gauge is bad.

My thoughts also....
I did run across this bay listing also, but become a little skeptical with something off of Ebay. I will check into this
Thanks

62 409 cars didn't have a return line. I think 63 and up did though.:scratch It seems like most of the time a bad ground or bad fuel tank sending unit is the culprit.
