Hi, i'm new here ... i was wondering if there are any numbers out there that say how many 1964 Impala Convertible not a SS but with a 409 engine were made? I just got my baby back from this thug and ex friend of mine. I've had the car since 97 when my buddy passed away and asked his wife to give me the 1st option to buy it if they ever needed money. Well, they didn't have enough to bury him and she sold it to me. I didn't rip her off as she would have been since my friend pulled out the 409 and droped one from an early 90s 454 truck. He was just as ignorant when it came to preserving the car original as me. That's how I lost it. I had the 409 rebuilt and put back in there, painted it a candy apple red color, and was getting the interior done with bucket seats and all covered in dimond cut mirrors including dash. I special ordered a set of $6000 Daytons as I wanted it to make the Lowrider magazine's front page. Everything was going right and about $30K later everthing was almost done but work got me too busy for like 8 months. I was anxious at 1st but 3 months later the interior wasn't still very far from being complete. I sent someone out there 8 months later to find out he'd gotten a mechanic lien title and sold it. Well, alot of arguing and bad attorney advise made me lose a few friends and a great car. A few months ago I found out he had a 2nd address on the other side of Houston and guess who was in his driveway? My car, it was bacik to original orange-red with the white interior sitting on fake daytons. We were doing a lot of research and finally we spotted the car on the road, followed it and when he parked and went in the store we took down te vin number. We came home to compare it and YES it was mine. The thing was that neither my buddy, that died, had changed the title or me to our name. I was always putting it off because of work and internet wasn't in my agenda in 97. I'm sure he knew and just wanted to rip it off. He went thru the legal procedure to obtain the title after calling my old cell 3 and the shop was closed down already too. He then sent info to the address DPS gave him but the letters never reached me since it didn't have my name or address on the title. We confronted him last night with all proof and a few threats and a small amount of money later, my baby was back home. I hate that we were apart so long but all this time served me well to educate me on the car. I will leave it all original almost as he had it. I don't need a lowrider specially now that I found out all the BAD I was doing to my baby.
