Carter AFB probably off a 400 HP 409. What is the number on the front pad near the passenger side hold down bolt Maybe a 3499S?

I found a number stamped on the front passenger side of the carb where
you said to look.

3270S

Is there a chart somewhere on the internet to ID this ?

I don't understand why the fuel inlet is on the driver side of the carb.:scratch

This site for 348-409 carbs.

AFBs were made for many cars Pont Buick and some Chrysler cars.
The tops are made so they can be drilled for inlets on either side. 409 400 HP AFBs at fueled from the drivers side.. I don't have a clue why...

I just took and Edlebrock Performer which was made from an AFB casting and made it into a driver's side inlet so to fit the stock fuel plumbing.

Hemi cross ram ran the carbs sidways and might have needed the inlet on the other side.
