Looking for guidance for a convention date or get together date for 2007. The NHRR will be in Columbus, Ohio next year on Father's day weekend. Generally, the week before that is Good Guys at Indy. Some guys like to run both of those. Some don't care. So, the question is, where and when do we want to have our get together next year?
I can tell you this. Clay City has asked if we would come back. I have had some conversation with the editor of Super Chevy magazine. No promise, but they might cover what ever we do in the magazine. I'm not proposing any time or place. I will say that Clay City treated us VERY well this past June. They paid out way more than they took in. And never complained. I think everyone there was pleased. And, the room rates were GREAT at the motel.
OK, it's open to you all. What and when and Where.

I really liked Clay City and would be happy to go back there. An early date might be less likely to conflict with some of the racers schedules.:deal I'm also going to try to get to The NHRA Hotrod reunion at Columbus OH. I'd expect to see quite a few 348/409 guys there as well.:beerbang

Fred, I loved Clay City, but what ever the site is , will be fine for us. I suggest April thru November. ( Did that help) ? :rofl Seriously, name a date and we will be there. Thanks again for the effort, I know it can be time consuming.

I second DQ, somewhere in the western half of the country would be great.

I also put my vote in for a more westerly convention site. Also for a time of year with better weather. Just my 2 cents worth.

Fred, First we would like to say thanks again for taking the lead on the get together. Next, no childern at home, no graduations, both cars can make the trip and we are ready to go. Since Ronnie found Clay City last year and we are now neighbors we'll just follow him! Clay City was great last year and would be fine with us, but anywhere would be great with this group!

i will be at next get together if its not to far, Kentucky was just to far from Brainerd minn, i like to see a event up here 409 style or a super chevy, at Brainerd international racway, they have 2 events that we would be great at, called show and go, and muscle car shootout, i run my 7 sec 63 vette there and other cars real nice event car shows and drag racing, things for the kids to do on site camping, near by lakes, 3 day events fri/sat/sun, july and sept, would be good central event for everybody, i know some of the people that run/own track i could make it work, any interst? Ya, Tim, That's me. Not too many people will admit to having a Purple car. It's really Maroon Metalflake, appropriate since it's a boat. The tube car is all white, like a fridge. Fenders are the old JC Whitney glass ones that are about 1/4 inch thick. You can put a couple fat girls on them and they don't bend! It's a lot lighter than the SS. You need to come and race with us. Watch for the next gathering. It's the most fun you can have with your pants on. Ask Fred. Region Rat, Bob:rofl :rofl :rofl

Fat girls!!!!!!!!! Now we are talking terms I can understand !!!! They usually cost e.t. because of excess ballast, but they can change tires, haul gas cans, and provide protection. Fat girls......... yeah.....:clap :clap

Tim, I was in a 409 club with a guy that ran a Henry J with a 409 in it. I was wondering if your buddy is the same person. My friends name is Richard Blume. What is your buddy's name?

I'd like a chance to come to the event also. I made a trip with my Chevelle to Nashville when i finished the restoration. That's quite a distance from Denver. I should have my 62 Biscayne finished by then. I have a friend who also has a 62 Biscayne, but his has a Z-11 in it, and it would be fun to get them on the qtr. If there's any chance to come a little farther west, it would sure help.
Of course next year is the anniversary of the 57, and we've already been invited to show our Belair at numerous events, but I'd sure like to see all of your cars. As soon as you have a firm date and location, we'll start planning.

i'd like to add another possible site for a 2007 get together. the 6th annual blue suede cruise at norwalk raceway park in norwalk, ohio. it's july 27,28,29,2007 for cars 1972 and older. the 348/409s would be a perfect fit with these muscle cars and street rods at this event. they have fun runs most of the time all 3 days. they also have some pro racing events including a few super stocks. i saw a few of you guys there in 2005. it's a first class facility in northern ohio. the cost is only $35 for all 3 days. jimmy
