Carb base question

You've probably heard this one before, but I can't find it in the archives.
Will an AFB bolt on to a 348 cast iron intake? I am assuming it was for a 4GC.

Bob, I believe that the AFB throttle blades are too large for the openings in the 348 cast iron intake. You could use adapter plate if you have to, but the best solution is a 409-340 hp intake. That is my opinion, others may have better information.

Ronnie is right on on that one because I have been there and done it.(used a spacer) If you don't want to spend the bucks for the 340 HP manifold another advantage is heat reduction at the fuel bowls

There was an iron AFB intake which was used on the mid 1959 and 1960 305 horsepower 348 with Powerglide trans. Probably quite hard to find today.
