IN the December '06 HRM is a story on the fast muscle cars. All the usual suspects were there: GTO, Camaro, 'Cuda, Nova, etc. I coudn't help think how cool it would be to see a 348/409 Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne in the mix. Any thoughts?

I really like the F.A.S.T. cars. It seems like a great idea and there seems to be more cars every year. I think a stroked 409 would put on a good show and surprise a lot of people. I don't think it would keep up with the L88 Corvettes or Hemi Cudas but not all of the FAST cars are competing for the top spot. There also seems to be plenty of guys trying to get the best out of cars like 340 Dusters and 350 Novas etc. I think it would be fun to see just how fast you could go with a stock looking Impala.

Maybe the new block (500+ CID) that Rich is planing on building would help. The '68 Vette has a 511 inch BBC. JIM_SS409: Can you please pics/specs of your '55? Looks pretty wild!!

Here's the story... We got the car in late Oct. last year and fixed it up over the winter. It's got a 476ci 409 that was built for street use. It runs about 11 seconds flat in the 1/4 mile. We hope to add a solid roller cam over the winter and maybe later build one of the new aluminum 409's.
