I can't believe it but I have found my 2nd 1965 409 "in storage" in about 30 days. This one is a "matching numbers" 65 truck motor. It is in great shape and has everything and even turns over!!!! Two questions on this one though
1. There is an original looking decal on it that says "280 Charger" I was first thinking that was the horsepower but I thought all of those things were 250 HP +/- It was in a c-70 series over the road tractor.

2. I have considered checking it out and freshening it up for resale. What are the actual compression ratios for the various aftermarket pistons out there considering it has the compression slot.

I have a '65 truck brochure that should have the specs for this engine:

rstreet, You are one lucky guy. The rule of thumb is that the ex. notch cost 1 point of compression. Some say 3/4 but you get the idea. If you desire to net 10 to 1 then order 11 to 1 pistons. If you dont mind a suggestion, I have found that building e-bay motors dont net any more profit than one can get by selling the parts. I have tried it both ways, and from now on will sell parts. The exception is a complete, rebuilt and correct numbers matching h.p. engine. Either way, good luck........... :)

Thanks for the tip. I was just thinking that since this motor was virtually unmolested and "numbers correct" if "freshened" up it might be worth it. This motor is local also, very reasonably priced and I really don't need it but am going to get it this weekend so I will think about it. thanks about the compression information also.
