I have heard that a 2x4 Buick air cleaner for a 425 will fit on an Offenhouser 2x4 set up for a 409, is this true has anyone tried it and if not, does anyone have this carb set up on there 409 and if so what is the spacing from center of carb to center of carb. so I can measure my air cleaner and see if it will work.
Thanks

Hey guys,Buick 2 x 4 Air Cleaner will work. All you need to do is take the base part of cleaner apart. You must carefully unbend the area where it is put together.Once it is apart, there are 2 different locations(notches) that you can set the air cleaner to change the horn openings.By moving the base aound to the second location will put the horns in the proper location, also this will also change the 2 mountings inside the air cleaner where air cleaner bolts to carbs to make them line up correctly.Once you move the unit around, just carefully tap the sheet metal down in place to secure the base. You then should be good to go.You can also change a 1962 ,409 (2 x4 Cleaner)where the air horn comes out on the side by the generator to make it fit 1963-1964 409(2 x4).Works opposite if you need a 1962 cleaner.
