348 409 Rebuild Kits

I see a vendor from Texas is selling rebuild kits for 348 409 for cheaper than Showcars by 200.00 anyone used them they say there stuff is all U.S. Made there called Mad dog performance they offer cast pistons solid or hydrolic cams with there kits and 11.0:1 compression on there 348 kit for about 1000.00 also includes rockers valves pushrods.

I've heard of Mad Dog but have never dealt with them. Whatever route you go, check to make sure you're getting quality parts. If you have a 409 DON'T buy cast pistons!!! The original GM cast pistons had a steel strut cast into them, to support the pin boss. Unless the new pistons have changed, they DO NOT have this support. There have been many cases of broken pistons. The forged 409 pistons are expensive but its worth it for the peace of mind. I do believe that the new 348 cast pistons are OK. Best of luck!!
