HHHMMM...
That's the problem with unauthorized use of Internet material....
it can also be mis-quoted:takethat

This is an NHRA / IHRA STOCK Eliminator 409... and in that category, IS the world's fastest STOCK 409. Stock 409 crank... bored .068" ( 423 CID ), stock combustion chamber volume, stock 690 heads with, stock lift ( .507" / .516" ) lift mechanical cam, stock intake manifold, stock CFM carbs, etc.

PLEASE guys, don't misenterperate the "title":doh . There are W block cars EVERYWHERE, that make mine look like it's sitting still.
THAT is what I was hoping to see when I clicked the link to this thread:deal .

Those that know the differance , know that Aubreys car is , indeed, the fastest 409 NHRA legal car in the World. And one great video.......

Aubrey

To be the best at anything is something to be proud of and I know you would not have overstated your car. I too enjoy watching the video and have a 23 year old son that watches it regularly. It does however have a different effect on me than NUTS, which is something I can probably be proud of.

I never did get the chassis working properly... mostly because I have no idea what I'm doing:doh .
Car is all apart now, but re-assembly is starting shortly. I received MUCH assistance / information from a number of members here... including Mr. Fred Totten:bow :bow :bow .

I'm in the process of selling a couple vehicles right now ( yes, my "signature" will be shortened very shortly.... aa, I can't believe I just wrote that:rolleyes: ), which is COMPLETELY financing the proper "drag race" build.
I WILL be out at the beginning of the 2007 season.

oh, changing wheels too, so I'm losing the nostalgia effect I FINALLY settled on what I'm getting... American Racing Pro Series, Track Star... 15X4 & 15X10 ( 5" back spacing ).

Exactly, Dennis.
If the page simply linked to the video on my site.... no issue.
But there are a few problems here...
The videos were "confiscated", and reformatted for another site, without permission.
No credit is given for where they came from ( this would likely circumvent any liability ).
The videos are claimed to be of the "fastest 409"... which of course is false, and damages my credibilty.

If the title on the "youtube" site was changed to something like "fastest Stock 409".... I would have no issue with it:bow .

Aubrey, I understand your concern, however, your credibilty has not been damaged to anyone who is familiar with 409s. And for those, who are not, who cares? I was thinking your car was very slow, anyway. With my antique, snail-like dial up connection, it takes me about 15 min. to watch video. :rofl :rofl :rofl

I joined youtube.
Went into the "upload a video" section
Before you upload, you read this on the page:

"Do not upload copyrighted material for which you don't own the rights or have permission from the owner."

Can't be made much clearer

It's a great video.:beerbang It's exactly what someone looking for drag racing or 409 stuff would be hoping to find.:deal I know whoever posted it there should have named it differently, but I don't think anybody really pays much attention to the title.

Here are links to 3 videos, Mike:

http://www.bruneauperformance.ca/chevy409may152005burnout.html

http://www.bruneauperformance.ca/chevy409may112005roadtest.html

http://www.bruneauperformance.ca/watchfasteststock409.html

They will open and play directly in your browser window. To replay, simply "refresh" the page. To save to your computer, "right click" in the middle of the playing video, and "save as". It'll take a minute to transfer the files.

Now, if the stupid car would just carry the front tires like so many other guys are doing:bang :doh

I sent a polite private message to the guy, just asking hime to re-name the video.

Of course it's good publicity... but it's like that discussion we had a while back about GM guarding their trademarks. It's the principle of of it.

Robert

Robert,

Nope..., not ready for Daytona. I would have had to take it as is (which is not bad in the slightest)...

I do have the 4L60E and all the fixings for it to go behind the upcoming 482, which I will have in my garage in the next couple days. I have decided to install the F**D 9", thanks to a broken tooth on the owner of a local hotrod shop. The 9" will be installed first before removing the present 700R4 and stroker 446... It has a 370:1 POSI, complete with rear disks and calipers and emergency brake setup.

I'll be able to compare it to the present GM 3.23:1 POSI in the car now..., and given how sweet and strong it runs already... maybe keeping the 446 in the '55', and upgrading the 700R4 to the 4L60E, with shifting paddles, will suffice.

The 482 is a roller motor -- bigger cam -- with solid lifters, and is maybe a bit too wild to be in my particular '55'.

Lots of decisions to make, but, at least all the parts are coming together to help make them.

Dennis: do you have any master cylinder issues with changing rear braking systems (proportioners or other master cylinder differences) Sounds like everything is under control except for the two motors. I agree and would change to the newer transmission with the 3.70 rear first. Let us know what you think about that change after some miles. I don't think the extra 9" rear weight will be an issue.
That bigger inch and cammed motor will probably be an adjustment if you do it but you really don't need it in that car of yours. as I get older I am less radical:rofl :rofl

Denis, I think you will find that the BIG inch motors (engines) although wild will perform great on the street !!

One reason the use of the BIG engines are becoming the engine of choice in hot cars is the fact that they go wild on the strip and can be driven on the street with little problems.

Michael Mason has a BIG Z-11 stroker in his BelAir and man ,,, what a sweet street car it is !!:brow

I think you will find this out when you get her done,,,dq

You have a STOCK 409,,,,Stock heads, intake, etc

No Z-11 heads,,, NO Z-11 intake,,,, No big cube crank,,,, It wouldn`t be a C Stock 409 now would it????:dunno

Robert

Robert & dq,

I do not have the rear tire size to really "hook-up" the 446 as it is right now! The 446/700r4 combo is already enough to give most any hotrodder/streetrodder a woody.

But, let's liken that roller-482 of mine, with the built 4L60E, and 9" 3:70 posi, and "mystery upgrade", to, hmmmm..., something like intra-veinous Viagra!

Surely, it'd be overkill -- but, so too is Pamela Anderson..., and I doubt anyone of us would refuse a ride in her.

The temptation to go all the way has everything to do it all the parts simply being there, like a mountain needing to be climbed -- just because it's there.

But, yes, I'll MAYBE start with the 9", then, to the 4L60E, and MAYBE the 482,,,,

I'll begin to post update pics soon...

As for going to 4-wheel disk brakes from my present disk/drum set-up, it's a simple matter of changing out a spring in the proportioning valve, which is already built-into the master cylinder. Go to www.abspowerbrake.com to view the details of the system I have (electric high-power, part number 10-59).
