I know this has been discussed before but my search of earlier posts did not turn up any definitive answers.

I am looking for a machine shop that has the capabilty to hone a W block with a torque plate. I live in east central Indiana and I would like to find a place that I could make a round trip in a day.

Thanks.

I would recommend Day Automotive In Kansas City, Mo. That shouldn't be too far for you. They specialize on the "W" engine. Don't have their number handy at the moment.

I am curious you want a torque plate instead of a modern boring machine. Does the torque plate make for a better job? John:scratch

Torque plate bolts on in place of the head and creates the same distortion as the torqued on head before you hone. Leaves behind a round bore when the heads are torqued in place.
