I finally found that article about this site. I like it! (love the title) :brow This is the best magazine article ever written about us. (it's also the only one) :rofl
While I did get criticized a bit about some of the backgrounds I used on the site, the rest is a great compliment. (maybe I should do some website re-designing?) :dunno :D
For those that haven't seen it, here's your chance:

Bob,
The site is GREAT just the way it is! Don't change a thing. It was a fine article that should bring some more guys & gals that are "W" fans to the site, but I think columnist school 101 has a rule that says you have to include one criticism. :rofl

Thanks guys. I can take a bit of criticism though, it's not possible to please everyone all the time. ;) Just happy to see the site in print. :deal
And judging by a few of the latest guestbook entries, we got some new blood from that story. :clap
I am always looking to fine tune the site so if anyone ever has suggestions on anything, I'd be happy to hear them. Now that winter is here, I hope to spend more time on the site. Today I did a small update that was LONG overdue.

Bob, congratulations on the write up by Hemmings :).
As we all know, this site is all about content, collaboration, threaded discussions on topics of interest, and not "high design".
You win my award for building a site that supports the above interactions, and goes way beyond what other sites and site administrators are doing for their members, contributors, and guests :) :) :).
Kudos to Bob for his continued efforts to provide a Forum that not only informs, but allows others to contribute and to solve problems for one another in a distributed asynchronous environment!
Cheers!

I regularly visit several different sites. Some have a few pretty good features, like the ability to post pictures or a search button etc. But this site is WAY better.:beerbang We've got every feature we could want.:deal We know it takes a lot of work to set up a site like this and keep it running smoothly. I have often wondered why , at the bottom of the screen, that most times it shows 4 or 5 to 1 , visitors to members. Why the heck dont those people join??? I know they must have their reasons, but its not like its a big expense. I have never looked at the guest book, but not surprised JimKwi tries to steer people to answers. DQ: Johns is my last name, that's why you'll see Johns' mentioned through the story.
JimK: The thumbnails are there to avoid slow loading pages. If someone were to post 5 full size pics, it would take a while to load the thread and some/most would skip over it. DQ has a way around that as he mentioned by having a picture host, then just linking to that pic within the thread using the (IMG) tags. Clicking on the little icon http://www.348-409.com/forum/xp/editor/insertimage.gif when posting will insert that code.
dunhamfield: I didn't put IMO on that list as it's just for car related terms but you gave me an idea. Think I'll make a chart of non car related terms and put them on that page. :brow :clap Of course, we'll have to get input from all you guys as I only know so many...
JimK: The picture is pretty big. (850X1193 pixels) I think your computer may be causing the small look for you. I know mine makes the pic smaller just after loading and I have to click on it to make it full size. Sometimes there is an icon in the lower right corner on mine that I can click on as well. See if you can do either of those.
On the guestbook, I check it every morning for spam. (used to get alot in there, now we just get it on the forum!!! :cuss ) I added the "Please use the message board link" at the top. I don't see why anyone would still ask a question there. :scratch Maybe if I word it a bit different, will look into that doing that later.
Ronnie: I don't know why alot register and never post. I do know that ALOT of them recently are from spambots. You can tell those ones usually just by the name alone. It's a new problem for forum owners as it's some type of spam bot that is going around flooding boards with their crap. I have many safeguards in place that are catching most but a few are still getting through until I manually ban them.
Now, if anyone can suggest some of those abbreviations for the new chart, fire away. IMO, IMHO, LOL, etc :) (give us the meaning of them too!) :D

Bob, I guess I read it wrong and thought that they were refering to you as John,,,
The picture hosting site are a great asset to anyone who uses forums or online actions and can be used as a great online photo album.
I like mine because i can leave a bunch of pictures to be viewed by others anytime they want.
Some have a free small hosting size that can be up-graded to larger sizes for a fee.
As far as listing all those text message short hand IMO junk I see no need unless it is car related,,, LMSOAO !!! Laughing My Sorry Old A** Off
I think a lot of non-members visit this forum to see what goes on and read about our special cars even though they don`t have a "W" powered car.
Just more gear heads interested in classic cars with an interest in learning about our cars without joining in.
I saw the message you posted above the "Guest Book" and think it is all you need.

Nut,
There is a spell checker if your using IE. When you reply to a post, look above the smilies for an icon marked ABC. Type your post out, then click the button and it will point out any mistakes and allow you to change them.
Do a test first as I think the first time you use it, it downloads something. Should work quickly after that first time. :)

You are probably going by early or in a hurry. If not stop by. If you can't We are still going to have to get together even if it's at the Blue Suede Cruise. Wouldn't it be a B*tch if we had to go to Norwalk to meet? :rofl
