If the guy is telling the truth there is a Z11 block up for auction on Ebay right now. I do not have the budget to build a Z11 for my 62 other wise I would buy it but I just spent my money on a 65 409. So here you go.

just another over priced, cracked 1963 block. Z11 and 409 used the same casting for 1963.

Please don't tell or mention anything about the Z-11 block to the seller.:nono1: He doesn't seem to know much on this blocks and would be real happy to sell it for some decent price. Do you know what would happen to the price if the word z-11 got out there?:cuss It might of started as a real Z-11 but without the honest history it might just started as a regular 3830814 too.:dunno But if you mention it to the seller, and with the fake stuff out on the net, you can bet it ill be a REAL Z-11 409. It could make a nice christmas present for one of our members.:D I'm thinking about bidding myself.:)

Good to know all I found in my quick search was the 383014 was a Z11. But all the 409 blocks that I see on Ebay are way over priced.

Good luck bidding, I hate bidding on a reserve auction. If there is a minimun you want than just start the auction at the min, not this reserve stuff, if the market is there your item will sell if not than you are over priced. Which seems to be the case for 409's at the moment. I found a working 65' truck 409 for $1200, so I was lucky.

Good luck bidding.

And do not worry no mention of Z11 to the seller. Would not want to get his hopes up on a regular 63' 409.

I'm ith you on the reserve and over priced 409 issue. But eBay is responsible for the reserve issue. They tell you to start the bidding low to get more people involved on the bidding. If you start an item high(what you really want) most people just pass and don't take a second look. But I know first hand that you do get caught up in the bidding and when reality hits, your like, why did I bid so much?:dunno I don't even need it.:doh I think that's why there are alot of non paying bidders. There are people that bid when its low and get caught up on the bidding and don't have the money to pay for the item or simply just got caught up bidding for something they saw cheap.:bang

As Ross said.. a 340 horse 409. Suffix code QC. A Z11 would be a QM

The O is a Q

I am curious there is no mention of the suffix code in the listing how did you guys come to the conclusion that it is a 340 409? I am not questioning you I am trying to figure it out, I am new to the 409 world so I look at the block number and codes and understand them, but if they are not listed how do you get to your conclusion what this block is..... just for my own education so that I can say that I learned something today.

Thank you.

62ImpalaSS,,,,,,,,,,, T1127OC is actually T1127QC.. The seller mis read the code. QC decodes to 340hp with manal trans. QG A/T QB means " lots of horsepower". These codes can be read in the engine info. from the home page. Before long you will have them all memorized. Good luck.............

Thank you, I thought that it was a zero not a O or Q. I guess it would be easer if the person listing could type things correctly.

Thank you for your time... with a new guy. :cheers
