Hello,
i recently upgraded to a mallory unilite electronic ignition and new edelbrock carb on my 68 belair 327. Im going to change plugs soon and was woundering what gap I should go to, or leave it the stock gap? The car is pretty much a mild engine with RV comp cams parts and headers. Thanks! drew.

OK, a couple of issues that are in your interest,
Plug gaps: .032 with the Unilite, no more.
Was your Unilite new? If so, there should have been a porcelain ballast resistor with it in the box. This resistor should be used, no option. It is rated at .60 ohms, and was originally used on Chrysler older vehicles.
The stock ballast resistor/resistor wire should be left in place, to the + side of the coil, then from the + side of the coil to the supplied Mallory resistor, and the RED Unilite feed wire to the other side of the second resistor, NOT to the coil + side.
This resists the coil to one level, the Unilite to a lower voltage.
When I spin a Unilite on my machine, I use the 6 volt battery in it to power the Unilite. Mallory suggests a 6 or 7.5 volt dry lantern battery for this purpose, but the dry battery works fine and keeps the Unilite volts down where it likes.

Hello,
yes my ignition was bought new. I will recheck my wires and see if any got loose. ive only run this motor about 30 minutes to break the cam in after rebuild. The holley 780 carb I had was way too big and flooded terribly. It was all I had at the time so we made it work. ive since bougt a edelbrock 750 vacuum secondary carb and now it seems the car wont start (low battery from sitting). i pulled the #1 plug tonight and sure enough its black and very wet. Any tricks to drying it out? Maybe let it sit open with no sparkplugs in it for a few hours? I will put a new set of plugs in this weekend and try it again. After that im hoping it starts up so we can hook up the exhaust system and road test it! thanks for the info! drew.
