Don't know about you but I'm about bored to tears waiting for good weather. Thought I'd show ya'll what I have been up to the last few months. Been a long time coming but the radiant floor heat is finally up and running as of last Thursday. Got to tell you it is really neat. Been cleaning up and have rearranged the garage about twenty times trying to find the most floor space for the buck. Got to work on the Impala a little and changed the oil in the pickup today. Ahh, life is good. :coffee:

Left to right, W engine parts, Ready for Norwalk or Clay City Impala, storage, 62 409 block.

Ray, Looks good. Don't you just love that radiant heat?:clap :clap The place we just sold I had the radiant heat in the shop. Now I am trying to convert an old horse barn into a car garage. Out with the hay burners and in with the tire burners.:clap :clap

Fatride; got a question for you. You have a 409 in the '60, right? Why don't you put a crossed-flag emblem on the grill? Please don't tell me 'Just to fool people into thinking it's a small block'. That is one snazzy lookin' ride, sir. And the Caddy ain't too bad, either.

Impala is a six original, no reason to change the emblem. Can't fool them into thinking it's a small block either, small block had a V under Bowtie! Six emblem looks very clean also. Caddy is a 5400 mile 1999, very clean wifes car.

Ray...when do you get to take your vacation this year????

I've been thinking about building a garage in my back yard...............and I could use some "volunteer" help such as yourself!!!!:rofl :rofl With your experience...I wouldn't have to train as many friends!!!!

I wouldn't expect you to do this for free.............I've got some parts we could throw in your pickup when you return home!!!!:brow :brow

Phil: If he doesn't "volunteer" I might consider 'cause you know I need some parts. I don't do heights well any more but I could do the electrical layout and installation. I would make sure you have an ample supply of lumens in there:rolleyes:
Robert
P.S> I could help on the roof if it is not a tall building and is membrane roofing. A friend of mine is a roofer and as he says "anyone can be a roofer but it takes a good roofer to put on a good roof"

I appreciate the offer Robert!!!! I'll cross electrician off my list for now!! I've been worried about my lack of lumens so this can cure that!!!!:rofl :rofl

All I need now is a concrete worker and a couple of framers!! Oh, probably outta have an architect to make sure what I want will stand up on it's own!! Anybody here do dynamite???? Got a lot of rock in the backyard!! That might be kind of exciting....maybe we could all get on You Tube with the blast!!!:rofl :rofl

Can I pick the parts that go in my pickup? :brow I'll be there in July if I can throw in a fresh pair of 583s/690s. No need to hire a framer, I was a union Carpenter for years. You can send me one of the heads now as a down payment :deal

Hey Phil I'll trow my bull float and trowels in the pickup and come to KC and pour your concrete for you and help frame your place. Just throw a set of 817's in the back of the pickup when I go back home. At the rate you're going you will have a mini convention in your back yard, all with tools in hand.:D Roy

Plans are to take the 4X4 Silverado with a full tank of fuel, blankets, food , flashlite, cell phone etc. I haven't had an accident or ran off the road in 40 years of driving Ohio winters, just have to watch out for the nitwits!

Phil,
In my misguided youth when I was young and stupid I did dynamite. My wife says I still possess some of those youthful qualities, mainly the "stupid" part.
It has been a while but if you provide the dynamite, blasting caps, detonator, amonium nitrate, and diesel fuel I will be happy to help. Oh,-- you also have to drill the holes in the rock to place the charges. I love the smell of nitro..... Only kidding(Hope Homeland Security isn't monitoring the site):rofl :rofl

Ray, that "manshed" sure looks nice to us folk who need more space. My project is still on hold until I locate massive amounts of dollars (the budget is now in the "Z-11 range"). My building permit has expired three times already :). So far I have refused to sell anything in exchange for moving the project along. We'll see how long that can last!

I plan to be up in the Cleveland area sometime in early in June (8th?) and hope to be driving the '62. I should try to swing by and get some pointers from you on finishing a project :).

Cheers!

We can do better than that Tom. Swing by and spend the night. I'm sure that we can find an extra bed and beer. Jeeze I'm wondering what we can talk about :dunno We can tuck the 62 in next to the 60 sit in the garage and look at them :scratch While drinking massive amounts of alcohol. Cecil: The local watermen needed a short cut around a thin peninsula years ago. So... an employee of ours who had military "ordinance" experience dynamited a ditch for them to get through. He also flew planes and owned a "Moony" Sounds allot like you huh??:D :D :D

The military never let me near anything more explosive than an M1 Garand or M-16. I got my blasting experience at the age of 16 working in construction. Thinking back on it I can't believe they trusted me not to blow myself up...Now that I think about it a little more I guess they gave me the job so they wouldn't have to take the risk.
I really was young and stupid.:doh :rofl :rofl

Tripower...Roy, I'm dropping off the 817's at the machine shop today for you!! Ray...gotta have a little bit more firm commitment before I take both sets of 690's and 583's in!!!!:rofl Skip, Cecil & Robert...I'll be in touch!!

Hey DQ.........thanks about the moles. I almost forgot about those little b***ards!! I hate them more than anything and they are all over my backyard. The concussion from the blasting will take care of them too!!:clap :clap On a related note, did you know that 1 part per billion acetylene is fatal? I was going to take my cylinder home and just turn it on in the tunnels. That ought to do it!! But, I know down deep, if I did that......I would have to light it!!!:rofl :rofl :doh :doh :brow   Might not ever find me or the backyard again!!

We need one more important "volunteer"......a banker!! Someone with about
$85K and a 50 year mortgage plan with a 2% TOTAL interest rate!!! There are several "here" that could do that but it's not my place to mention any names!! Let alone that they "might" live in Texas!!!!

We're getting closer...keep the ideas flowin'!!

Ronnie Russell
02-15-2007, 11:52 AM

Since we're speaking about critters. I went in the garage a few days ago, to check the Chevy, and secure the openings, before the big snowstorm. I found evidence that mice are in my car. Looked under the seats, up under the dash board. Couldn't actually see them, BUT I know they've been in there. I can't believe they would stay in the car, because I have two boxes of moth balls scattered on the rugs. They have done a lot of damage to the outside of the car, over the years, but this is the first time they've made their way to the interior. I've heard about people using Bounce, but I would think moth balls would be a better deterrent. :dunno Please HELP Skip:)

Skip,I never had any luck with moth balls,or bounce. This year I jacked up the 57,and put the 57 on four jack stands and removed all 4 tires and no mice so far.The mice climb on your wheels and tires to gain entry into your car.

I use a plug in the wall electronic pest repeller. Plugs in the wall like a nightlight. Costs $15.00. Had an old one running for years without problems. Last fall I was working on the 62 when a group of mice walked past me into the garage and under the work bench. Check the repeller and found it was not working. Purchased a new more modern one a Menard's and have not see a mouse since. Also have them for insects.
