I have a 1963 Impala convertible that has power steering. I recently purchased a QB 409 that came with the idler assembly. Are the ratios different on the power/manual steering boxes as they are with the 70s vehicles? What else would need to be changed if I decide to remove the power steering setup or is it a matter of just removing the hydraulic cylinder, mounts and pump?

Thanks
Jimmy

You'll need to replace the entire center link assy and pitman arm with ones from a manual steer car. The gear boxes are the same.

The PS steering boxes have much less turning ratio than a manual box. I think either can be used. Others here will know more on that.

I changed my 63 from PS to manual and can confirm 1958 delivery's mention of having to change the center link/pitman arm.
