Drive Shaft Paint

Does anyone know the significance of the two painted lines that run around the drive shaft. I have a 60 impala and there are 2 Orange lines a 1/2 inch wide

The drive shaft had distinctive markings on it, so assembly line workers could quickly grab the correct one for installation. The color code would have been listed on the build sheet to match the particular model of car, and drive train. I'll include a picture of the drive shaft that I restored to correct colors for my 396 CID 4 speed, 67 Chevelle. The first picture is before the restoration, and after I media blasted the rust and found the original stripes. The colors are correct from the build sheets for this particular Super Sport power train and transmission.
