I'd appreciate your input on this - especially if you've restored a 62 SS coupe.
I'm trying to find out more information on my 62 that I'm going to begin restoration on in the near future.
I've already been in touch with Phil about my car and from the info that I sent him he believes it was originally a factory 327.
I bought it as a rolling shell a number of years ago with no engine/tranny.
The rear end is not posi and it has PS components.
I went to the info part of the opening page of the website to try to decipher this tag. According to the info there, a four-speed car has the letter "L" after ACC but mine doesn't.
The car has the flared frame, boxed rear frame channel around the trunk, 3/8 fuel line through the passenger A frame, the sheet metal factory tower for the four speed shifter that screwed onto the opening in the transmission hump and has the bolt holes on the driver's side inner fender where the tach sender was.
It has a clutch pedal in it but I don't know if it was a factory four speed - and I can't tell from the cowl tag.
Can you tell me anything more from the above information?
I've included a shot of the info and clutch pedal arm holder on the frame - I think that is a factory weld.
Thanks. wally

Wally, I'm assuming your car was built in the USA. I think all SS models in 62 were built in the US.:scratch GM Canada kept records for the cars built here but GM in the US threw that stuff out years ago.
Here's an article that explains ACC codes... http://www.jerseylategreats.com/doc/docservice.html
Verne Frantz, the guy that wrote this probably knows more ACC codes than anybody, but the ACC codes don't always tell you much.
For what it's worth, you car sounds like it was a 300hp 327 with a 4 speed. If it had the right fan shroud and holes in the fenders for 409 badging it might even have come with a 409. I think the drivelines were quickly removed from the high performance 327 and 409 cars,,, leaving future owners to wonder what driveline they had when they left the factory.
