I was looking at my 1960 assembly manual for 348 ground strap locations. I see only one strap that goes from the wiper motor to I think the driver side valve cover rear bottom screw. The wiper motor has a solid strap that goes from the motor to the firewall then the copper woven ground stap uses the same firewall bolt and goes to the valve cover, is this right? My car is missing this strap. If I did not have this strap in place what could or should happen? I have not had this stap ever and the wiper motor works fine! Is this for radio noise suppression? Also, I thought there was a woven copper ground strap that hooked in the fuel pump area to the frame. I do not see this in the assembly manual. With all the electronics we are running nowdays would this be a wise thing to do, I mean hook the engine to the frame with a ground stap ? :scratch

Normally there would be a ground strap off the back of both valve covers to the firewall and one from the passenger's side body mount welded on the firewall down to the frame. That should do it for you.

Hope this helps.

Thank's Phil, I saw the one on the passenger side firewall to the valve cover, manual says for radio suppression, I didn't think I needed this one? With all three ground wires hooked up I guess this would give you a good engine to frame ground. This seems like it would be important seeing that the ground cable from the battery is connected to the engine only. Am I correct in assuming the engine is isolated from the frame by the rubber engine and tranny mounts?

Ray,

You can't have too many grounds, A good portion of running problems we see at the shop are related too bad grounds :bang :bang or faulty or corroded connections.

Thanks for the tip Denny. Ground staps will be placed as Phil says.
