I am trying to find a matching numbers power glide for my 58 Bel Air. How do I identify the correct transmission? I have Alan Colvin's book Chevy by the numbers. However it does not give me enough information.

Call Auto City Classics...800-828-2212. They have a lot of 58 stuff.
Keep in mind....ALL 58 tri-power engines had Turboglide transmissions. Just wanted to make you aware if you have a 3x2 car.

They also had 3 spd sticks.

My 58 came origally with Turboglide and the gear indicator on the dash has G instead of L. This was because the Turboglide freewheeled on a downgrade and you pulled the gear selector down to G for compression braking. If your indicator has a G it came with a Turboglide. :deal Roy
