It was like spending 3 days in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even had Don Jacks there too!!!!!!!!!!!

I had never been to Beech Bend before. Hundreds of acres...amusement park, water park, camping park and a drag strip!!! 2 lane windy road into the track..........so different than all the others. Beautiful facility.

This event was the result of 2 hard working members. Al Loy took care of arranging this event and getting the word out, took care of all the personal stuff like making trophies and getting everyone there. GREAT job Al!!!!!!!!!!!! Martin took the racing program and "ran with it"!!!!!!!!! He kept track of all the racers, made profile sheets on them and would take all the info to the tower so the announcers would have something on each car and driver to talk about. GREAT job Martin!!!

It's just good to go around and visit with everyone. I was able to spend time with some that I didn't know too well and that was great. Good to see ole friends again. Found out I may be related to Allen George!! Still trying to wrap my head around that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just love events like this!!!

Thanks again to Al for his Grand Marshall title. Don't believe I deserved it. I really appreciate the personal plaque he made for me!!! It will hangbowlinggreenplaque.jpg in my "office" at home!!!! Great week of racing and friendship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phil, just to straighten out the record of the trophies....the two piston class trophies came from Martin, the timing chain covers were made by me, and your plaque came from Dick MacKenzie. I thought I had covered that. Just want credit to go where credit's due because we all pulled together! But, we couldn't have asked for a better Grand Marshall!! Thank you and Candy for all you do and all your support!

This was the first 348-409 event I've attended and can honestly say I've never met a group of guys and gals so classy and friendly. Everyone seemed to go out of their way to make everyone feel at home. Thanks to all those who helped to put such a great event. The W racing was icing on the cake. Looking forward to next year.

The pictures and video are great! Thanks to everyone for posting them. :clap
I noticed Dave Mills' Chevy II dropped out after the first time trial. I'm guessing there was a mechanical problem. Nothing serious I hope.

T-SHIRTS:
1. The T-Shirt program worked out real well. Thanks everyone.
2. T-SHIRTS FOR THOSE WHO ORDERED THEM, BUT COULD NOT ATTEND. Those members are ROOKIE AWSOME CARS, JIM COMEAU and JIM CARNIATO, MR 409 GUY, EVAN 409 GUY, DAN STOTSENBURG.
I'm going to send each one of you a PM personal mail asking if you still want the shirts, your address and phone number and then I will mail the shirts to you with an invoice covering the shirt price and the mailing. Thanks a lot.
Regards, Mark Steele

Sounds like a plan Mark. :beer
Even though I didn't make it to the event,,, I'd still like to get a T shirt. :winner

I'm a real dunce when it comes to booking hotels. ( I don't go anywhere ), I took a shot at booking a room ,,,, Ramada Inn, 3 nights= a total of $260.27...... thru Hotwire. I tried a couple of other motels and when I tried to execute, the details said " Pay now--- non-refundable". I did not like that so I chose Hotwire and have it in writing that bill will be paid at the hotel and can be cancelled at any time with no penalty. For all I know the Ramada may be a real dive, I don't know, just took a gamble. I probably should have waited but I think it will really be hard to find a room next Spring, so , like I said, a gamble.
We stayed at the K.O.A. about $70 only 11miles from track.

Giny and I stayed at the ECONOLODGE in Bowling Green about 6 miles from the track which nI got for $69.00- a nite. We also reserved in late April to try and beat the rush ! We also stayed at the ECONOLOIDGE in Youngstown Ohio for the same price the 1st nite of the trip.
No, I definitely can't make it.
They're having a big 95th birthday party for my Dad on the same weekend.
Definitely a GOOD choice. May GOD BLESS HIM ! My Dad was 92 when he passed. He was MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than Bowling Green !:clap:clap
:bow
:crazy:cheers
