Thanks Dick for the great pics and descriptions.
Thanks all for the kind words.
First, let me say it was great to see friends at my local track. also, it was an honor to be asked to race with the guys. for the first time in a long time, I was lined up with cars I actually like and enjoy seeing.
When Al asked me if I would like to race with the 409 cars, my reply was......they wont let me. he told me that the drivers talked it over and decided OK.
truth is, I went there wondering if I could remember how to drive. it was the first outing in a long time and the start of my 41st year racing
my plan was to enter the 1/8th mile bracket race and try to run a 5.99 or faster. I had the car set on kill because I can get away with that there. (the track is 559'11" instead of a legit 660' 1/8 mile and all those pesky NHRA rules)
I went and put in a restrictor plate when I heard we would run 1/4 mile. knocked the car from 9.50 to 10.20 and we went racing. I had the best time ever running with friends. I do feel a little strange using a BBC though.
if you look up gentleman in the book, you will see Dick's picture........I asked him, what if I win this thing? then what? what would be the gentlemanly thing to do? his reply..........TAKE THE MONEY. Ok, lets rumble.
I did have my old trusty 409 hat on though. thanks so much guys...........you have no idea. I had asked Red Williams to ride along with Shan and take my old jalopy for a spin. he called to say thanks but he could not attend.

I was wondering what happened to the field, so I am happy Dick posted the results.
my first pass was with Steven Moyer, I redlit by -.249 he went .090 for the win but it was time runs
second time run was with Brian LaBombard he had an .012 light to my lazy .056 he went 10.31@132.9 to my 10.20 @ 131
first round was with Dick. (I hated that and wished him the win and me get to go home.) but I also said, I wont throw the fight.
Dick ran a 10.13 on a 10.20 dial. he went 133.32 mph I went 10.21 on an .18 dial and 132 mph
second round was with Brian again and his car bogged some resulting a 10.44 on an .05 dial mine went 10.35 on an .18 dial
third round was a bye run due to reaction times. figures I had an .006 light and ran .19 on a.18 dial when it didnt count
final round was with John Medaglia he went 10.28 on a .30 dial mine went 10.25 on an .18 dial
It was really hot out and I so enjoyed running with friends as stated before. win or lose, it really made my day
